Even I cannot understand. Does it mean we have no self identity, that we either belong to the fathers or to the husbands?
I know people who don't keep anybody's name as their surname, but instead keep their Gothram/ place of family as their surname.Rama Ananthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00962222316822524699noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666976084812162595.post-70319377402155449022011-05-11T04:30:05.911-07:002011-05-11T04:30:05.911-07:00good observation but India is still not such matur...good observation but India is still not such mature country to understand your point.
Here religion and caste is more important.smhttp://realityviews.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666976084812162595.post-21502146986475049072011-05-10T22:00:27.636-07:002011-05-10T22:00:27.636-07:00Yeah exactly...there was always a confusion when I...Yeah exactly...there was always a confusion when I told my teachers or friends that its my father's name...not the surname!

Sigh...I guess this cannot be avoided!Anu...:)https://www.blogger.com/profile/05051995807770709444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666976084812162595.post-63505531011801925632011-05-10T20:05:38.999-07:002011-05-10T20:05:38.999-07:00This surname quagmire is never ending. I guess predominantly people who live north of TN insist on adding Iyer/Iyengar to their name.Otherwise its mostly dad's name only.In TN,adding your community name to your name is a liability ;-)Bhargavihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11532498932030700441noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666976084812162595.post-60196475030468415222011-05-10T10:26:22.620-07:002011-05-10T10:26:22.620-07:00An interesting observation by you...and yes it cha...An interesting observation by you...and yes it changes the whole personality when people pronounce the name in a wrong way.Irfanuddinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17931968343851910523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5666976084812162595.post-82033749408508454862011-05-10T08:42:59.091-07:002011-05-10T08:42:59.091-07:00There is so much to a name: yes, after reading thi...There is so much to a name: yes, after reading this post..i instantly agree..cheers.R.
